Assembly Candidate Rochelle Pardue-Okimoto Gains Early Endorsement from California Nurses

Democratic Assembly candidate Rochelle Pardue-Okimoto gained an early endorsement from the California Nurses Association.  Pardue-Okimoto has been a nurse for the past 17 year at Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley.

“I am proud to receive the support of the California Nurses Association, but this campaign is just getting started,” said Rochelle.  “I will continue to work hard to make sure every voter knows my record as a patient advocate, community leader and my vision for California’s future.” 

El Cerrito – Democratic Assembly candidate Rochelle Pardue-Okimoto gained an early endorsement from the California Nurses Association.  Pardue-Okimoto has been a nurse for the past 17 year at Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley.

Rochelle currently serves on the El Cerrito City Council and served as the Vice Chair of the Human Relations Commission.

“As a City Councilmember and community leader, Rochelle Pardue-Okimoto is well qualified for State Assembly, but her work as a nurse who is fighting to keep Alta Bates Hospital open and her commitment to  single payer, guaranteed universal healthcare for all and SB 562 is key.  We know that she will be a strong voice for healthcare for all in the State Assembly,” said Malinda Markowitz, RN and Co-President of California Nurses Association. 

She is currently a Certified Staff Nurse IV at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. She and husband, Takashi, are raising their two sons in El Cerrito.  

Assembly District 15 includes the cities of Albany, Berkeley, El Cerrito, El Sobrante, Emeryville, Hercules, Kensington, Piedmont, Pinole, Richmond, San Pablo, Tara Hills, and a portion of Oakland.

The incumbent, Assemblyman Tony Thurmond (D-Richmond), is running for Superintendent of Public Instruction.
